Just a note for clarification, this board is for BOTH in character (IC) and out of character (OOC) posts. If you're posting IC, please enter your character's name under "Your Name". If you're posting OOC, please enter your real name under "Your Name". Please don't post anonymously, all that does is create drama. Thanks.

Well it seems the board has been busy since christmas. Just to let everyone know, I AM going to be there. Despite it being my birthday and all. I know it's been a strain on the larp during all this, but it SHOULD be over now - my cybernetic enhancements are all in place and I'm ready to be the bionic ST. As for any inconsistancies in the plot or allowed characters, they will be discussed tonight before game. It's looking though, that I may have to re-evaluate the status of sabbat PCs - they've been dropping like flies. We'll talk about it there.

Hey, figured I'd throw something out now for everyone's consideration. A number of people have been tossing around the idea of next semester having a permanent one week out of the month be the changeling game, rather than just skip weeks. Given that the game thus far has basically worked out to roughly once a month anyway, it really wouldn't be much change, and having a set date ahead of time would give the STs and players time to prepare better. Let me know what people's opinions are.
John das pirate - Thursday, December 28, 2000 at 12:55:32 (EST)
The position of Elysium Keeper is still open, and I would still be very grateful of Joshua to accept it and begin the associated duties as soon as possible. The position may change in the near future, however, depending on various unfortunate circumstances which will soon be resolved. I hope that everyone's holidays were pleasant.

I agree that John is a great vampire storyteller. However, in all fairness to Pyle and Dave, they didn't have a full city(vampire population wise) with which to base a political game around, and now John does. Pyle had to coordinate a plot with 2 or 3 other games. Pyle's ideas were very creative and a lot of fun in which to participate. The same goes for Dave. When looking back at what they had to work with, I think they did just as good a job. Now, in regards to the narrators of the last couple games, it's be nice if certain people contacted certain other people during the week to plan things. However, certain people are bed ridden or swamped with other priorities. The post of "just telling it like it is" is better suited when directed to a Storyteller. It doesn't do much good to express those types of opinions on a public forum - it just upsets those it's directed at, and then people start taking sides. Lastly, play Werwolves(crap... I'm supporting the Lupines?!?! NNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)!!!

I agree somewhat with "Just tellin it Like it is" (Put your name here people!) There is sure a lot of carrots and not too much sticks in the vamp game. We reset the game and got rid of two genres a few months ago to make a strong and evenly spaced power wise LARP. We had 6 elder players and the rest of us was spins. Now it seems the game is back to were it was before the reset. We have Sabbot P.C's, Cam P.C's. Independent P.C's and just about the same number of players we had when we reset. (Anyone remember the first reset game, when there was around 35 people? Have we come close since?) So we get situations like "Just tellin it like it is" described. Storytellers coming up with bigger and more bad monsters trying to kick ass. Unlike "Just tellin it like it is" I don't automatically dismiss this is as a bad thing. Sure I think that the characters are being reproduced and that a lot of the players are inexperienced; However, it seems proven to me at least that this is the kind of game people want. I see the same people coming week after week and I do not hear or read much discord coming from the players. So what ever problems I may or may not have with the game I am content in the fact that people are enjoying themselves and having fun. The only thing I would like to see is if a vamp player is killed he has the choice of playing Werewolf. I know a few people have expressed interest and have been denied. Well if we are going to allow players to play what they want and have the kind of game that they want to play in then if they want to play werewolf they should be allowed to play werewolf. Just my two cents. Oh, by the way, I think that Pyle guy wasn't too shabby a vampire storyteller himself!

John is the best vampire ST this LARP has seen in many years. But look what little it does you when he dosen't show up. You are left with Narrators that have no idea which way to develop the plot which is locked inside John's skull. Or they simply get boared and make up ungodly powerful NPCs that can slice through every member in a scene like a hot knife throug butter then destroy your elysium even quicker. The only thing that is more alarming is the level of role-playing of your player characters. Their character concepts are pathetic, feeble, ignored, and reoccoring. You even think that changing from cam to sabbot is going to change something mysticaly overnight. I mean give me a break!!! Some of you are playing very powerful and old vampires that are making mistakes that a neonate would pass up. It's like your dominated to walk into a meat grinder!!! You can continue to let anybody play what ever the hell you want as many times as you want only to have them repeat your same mistakes learning only vengence for your characters death but it's damaging your LARP. It is noble when you exceptional role-players step up to help the less experienced but you who are less experienced never listen. Or if you do listen they you don't apply what you learn. Your reward for good role-playing as an added experience point was a great idea but it's not enough to raise the level of role-playing or your experience of a great game to being common place. You change behavior with the carrot and the stick. You already have the carrot with added experience but nothing as punishment for your bad role-playing. You have no stick!!! Your players may not like it but if a stipulation was put on characters that if you last less then a month or two then your next character has to be of a lower gen. This would either wisen up your less experienced real quick or put them at a gen suitable for their mistakes. Or you could have them play newly embraced characters under the supervision of your more experienced players learning the ways of the cam like newbies should. Every role-player I have ever encounterd has been extremely intelligent and creative. None of you are an exception to this. You have all you need to make this an awsome game. You can all do ten times better than what you have been doing. You should all be asamed of yourselves. Each of you have the seeds of being incredible role-players in an unmatchable LARP but you feel that it's someone elses responsibility to make it better or that this somehow dosen't apply to you. If that is the way you feel about it why don't you go play in one of the other dirt LARPs there are around here. They would gladly take you in and take advantage of your inexperience in and out of character.
Just tellin it like it is

Fisrt i verified the fact of the victoms aliences and meanings. This together with his accuasations on me drove my to loose myself. A shamful act i know and but it happens to the best of us. I stopped myself short of taking him entirly as anyone could see but he met his end by my bite. I can only assume the darkness that aided be his own or that of his pack aiding his escape. Where is not for the valient effort of the young one and her friend he would of surely escaped. and for that i give the both of them thank and if there is any sense of honor in you aserax you should do the same. As they fought only to preserve what you are the supposed head of. I appologise for my absence after such an atrocity. I took shelter in the only thing i know my painting. (OOC) I WANNA PLAY THIS SATURDAY! I WANNA PLAY I WANNA PLAY! ...um...willing to exchange sexual favors for extra exps..oops! did i say that out loud..either way! I WANNA PLAY! (IC) Greetings Fellow Camarilla members well... i am being held ... in protective custody so to speak...until i can be questioned further. as you may have noticed , the ventrue primogen is no longer to be found. about a week ago he approched mr wing and i and we went into a side room to talk. He accused mr wing of being sabbat, and then went on a rather long soliloquy about how he needed to join the sabbat. he wanted to join the sabbat. he was looking to make contacts in the sabbat and his loyalties were to himself and whatever side wins. (attached wave file) i have this all on microcasette for you here to download and listen to at your leisure. he then offered mr win a major boon in exchange for his silence..and was going to leave. mr wing attacked him. trying to stake him. most likely to detain him. this did not work. he tried to run. i pushed him back into the room. then we both bit him trying to incapacitate him. he fired a crossbow into mr wing's side. we continued biting. i have no idea where the black tentacles came from. but there were 6 of them trying to pull him out of the room. an obvious sabbat discipline as far as i could tell. my bodyguard sliced through the first set. the second set of six ripped the ventrue from mine and mr wing's grasp. the damage done when he was wrestled away from us appeared to be enough to kill him. my defenses for my own actions are thus. 1. he was trying to join the sabbat and escape. that alone was horribly wrong as far as camarilla laws go. 2. the keeper of the elysium was trying to detain him and he was fighting back. my ELDER of my CLAN was trying to detain him. 3. it was elysium. i had no stakes. no weapons. nothing other than my own teeth to detain him. punching would have done no good. i am young and weak. he probably would have laughed at me if i tried to hit him. all i had left as a weapon was my own teeth. 3. he had shot someone in the elysium earlier and was already under suspicion. he had a crossbow on him THEN as well and shot mr wing. how he kept getting weapons into the elysium i have no idea. 4. i had no intention of diablerizing him. i never had any intention of diablerizing him. i DIDN"t deablerize him. and anyone with any for of auspex can look at my aura and see the truth of that matter. 5. I came to present myself the very next week to explain what had gone on, with my bodyguard, and the microcasette (yet again. see attached wav. file) we were attacked outside of elysium. by camarilla members. instead of trying to fight back and HARM anyone, i attempted to get within the safe boundaries of elysium. my bodyguard was torpored and staked. this was within the letter of the law. but not the spirit. technically we were not in elysium, but we were right outside. and were attacked by camarilla members. 6. the only defensive action i took was to shoot arnold ONCE when i thought he was going to kill my poor friend. throughout this all i have been honorable. upfront . truthful. cooperative. everything i can. I have no idea what else i could have done in that situation. i never meant for the ventrue primogen to die. even though he was trying to be sabbat. i realize i had no right of destruction. but the keeper of elysium has rights, as well as domain. and i was being led by his judgement in this. the sherriff has told me that the ventrue prim was working to see if mr wing was sabbat. and that apparently he was. that he died fills me with a great sadness and personal disgust for my own involvement in the entire fiasco. but the only blame against me is for following the actions of my elders. for being uninformed. I have tried in every way i could to be honorable. and if i meet my end i'd like everyone to know at least what really did happen. if my crime is judged as being so horrid . so wretched and dispicable as to demand my final demise. at least i'll have died being truthful and honorable. to the bitter end. it was wonderful knowing you all for the short time that i did love Samantha

Yes, the Assamites are... unhappy with having been cursed, but the curse is gone now. Al-Ashrad and Tygerius(from the clanbook, the ones petitioning for entry into the Camarilla) know that the Assamite/Tremere hatred would be difficult to overcome. Also, not all Assamites are assassins anyway. The Assamites have a caste system. Warriors are oviously the most numerous, but they have Viziers, who would just as likely turn a fight down(they're the clan politicians), and Sorcerors, who don't leave their studies very often, as well, and the number of each caste petitioning to join is fairly uniform. Also, in terms of enemies, the Camarilla have a lot. They don't have the firepower they once had when the Gangrel were still part of the sect. So, the Camarilla could definitely use the help, especially on the East Coast.

One thing I've noticed of late. People do not seem to want to play in the World of Darkness. People want to play in the World of Happy Go Lucky. This is a WoD/Vamp/etc LARP. The Tremere have enemies. The Assamites have enemies. The Cam does. The Sabbatt does. The Garou do. The thing that makes a character fun to play, and a LARP for that matter is the fact that when you pick a character to play, you pick it at the risk that that character is going to have friends and enemies. The Assamites are bitter for the curse of the Tremere on them, of course they'd try to kill them. However, it is the smart Tremere player that will cover their tracks and not go flaunting the fact in a city where a Assamite is known. Just as an Assamite shouldn't go flaunting the fact that they are in town where Tremere are known, else they'd face the wrath of all of them gang bangin' him. My point is, if you pick a character to play, pick him because you think he'll be fun to play, however, don't get all up in arms about it when that character's enemies try and spin/kill him. My $.02..

I can see that yes, but theres also a problem with the whole tremere vrs. assamites thing. Your gonna have alot of people remaking characters because they were stupid and went after Zachary or Lazurus. And if they don't try and kill them first they'll pick off the littler people. Thats not cool.
Zach
<>
- Tuesday, December 19, 2000 at 13:21:56 (EST)
That's part of the problem, Zach. Most players who have played an Assamite only read what is in the Player's Guide or Laws of the Night. They never bother to read anything from the the Assamite's point of view. Their new clanbook doesn't mention anything about being forced to observe Islam. Only the Loyalist faction devoutly worships anything(Haqim). The Assamites that CHOSE to become Muslims were primarily embraced from Arabic stock anyway. Then there are the Disspossessed who don't worship anything and aren't allied with Al-Ashrad or Ur-Shulgi.

Hell, so far NO ONE has played a good assamite in game for one specific reason: Assamites are all about Ala(sp) and Hassam and they openly praise them all the time. You don't get embraced Assamite until you've converted to the Muslim religion. Hope I didn't offend anyone, I'm not saying the roleplaying wasn't right, I've seen some scene's that were really great. It's just that the religion factor is higher among the Assamites than any other clan. And yes, I am counting the Salubri and Setite's.

I've seen far too many poorly-played Assimites to allow it to be as open as the six Camarilla clans. I would say allow it on a case-by-case basis, requiring a DAAAAMN good background and concept.

In whatever future supplement, it will be decided whether or not the Schismatic Assamites will be granted membership into the Camarilla. If they are allowed to join, would you be for or against allowing them as PC's? After reading a few posts on the White Wolf Vampire forum, feelings seem mixed. However, most of those that didn't like the idea didn't know any of the story behind why the Schismatics are leaving Alamut.

Adam, I picked up 3rd edition. Yeah the Gazers left. There are less than 500 Gazers left. They left because they felt that "they can't help themselves, so they can't help the Nation" They are still allied with the Nation, just not part of it. They retreated up into the mountains to try and rebuild their numbers. They are having a horrible problem and the Gazers are on the verge of extinction.
Also, I am starting a tabletop of 3rd edition. The game will be on Sundays. If interested, email me at mruyle@voyager.net. Thanks.

Ok, I've been trying to post on this board for the last 3 days and every time I've tried I get a file not found error. Is this a server problem? As for Zach's post about the painkillers, it's true, it's all true (sob) What actually happened is that I finally had the knee surgery I've been needing for the last couple of months (you've all noticed me limping?) As a result, I cannot walk and I'm a glassy-eyed space monkey. So yet again it looks like I can't be there. I was kinda planning on the day before christmas eve being a skip week, but if scott does not run today, I'll run then. As for adam voulentreering to make up a calendar - No Bad monkey. This has been an exceptionally bad month for organization, I know. But this schedule should only be made up by the STs of Vamp W.W. and Shiny Toast. My goal is to keep the schedule flexable, yet know 2 weeks in advance what's going on. I hope to get well soon, and see you all in the next week or so. kiss, kiss.

A recent toxic waste spill near Grand Ledge has resulted in unusually immediate side effects on both the animal and human population exposed to it. Several specimens of deer, fox, squirrel, and birds have been found with what appear to be mutations. No specifics were available. Also, it's been reported that there have been fox attacks on young residents in Grand Ledge. What's even more disturbing is the increase in aggessiveness found in the human victims. Several domestic disputes have been reported in the last two weeks, and each assailant was found to have a spill related injury. The local police, DNR, and FBI are all currently investigating the spill, but they are all coming up empty. A few unconfirmed witnesses reported seeing a black helicopter dumping glowing green material. However, no one has been able to substantiate these claims, and none of the industries in the area which produce waste, produced enough to cause such a disaster as this. Anyone with information, please contact the Grand Ledge PD, or a local DNR representative.

The Cam is unconcerned with a violation of Elisyum? This seems out of character. one would think that in a time of distress such as this, we would want to keep our traditions more than ever. Perhaps that is the goal of the Sabbat. Not to kill us, but to get us to ignore our rules, the very things which make us what we are. But that's only the opinion of a Kook, what do they know? Right?

As far as my Primogen shooting at the Malkavian in Elysium, I doubt anything will come of it. Camirilla members these days aren't really concerned with petty hings like that. He wasn't exactly in his right mind. "Catatonic" was the description that Primogen Thunder gave me. Apparently Primogen Nightstar had been poking around where he shouldn't have been. So it's all pointless to accuse anyone. Of course, you could always go ask the Sabbat clear up this problem. I'm sure they'd remove both parties involved free of charged. They're just nice like that. And they would show up at Elysium, seeing as they know where it is, and make weekly visits.
